Welcome to Stella Maris Gent, a tranquil cafe located at Hogeweg 71 in the heart of Gent, Belgium. This charming establishment serves as a haven for seafarers and offers a unique blend of hospitality and practicality, making it a must-visit for those looking for a place to unwind.

Stella Maris Gent is not your ordinary cafe; it is deeply rooted in the maritime community, offering special amenities tailored for those at sea. With a spacious layout and a calming ambiance, it's a perfect retreat to release stress after a long journey. Customers rave about its serenity, with one visitor, Tony Palomar, noting the “good ambiance” that many seafarers can appreciate. Whether you're settling in with a good book or catching up with fellow sailors, this is a spot where you can truly relax.

Although the cafe doesn't serve a full restaurant menu, it does offer a selection of drinks and snacks, making it ideal for a light bite or to enjoy a refreshing beer. As highlighted by capt navik, it's a “nice quiet place to have a beer and some snacks,” perfect for mingling or simply enjoying your time. While the absence of a full food menu might deter some, the focus here is more on creating an inviting communal space than serving elaborate meals. You can also access free Wi-Fi, indulge in table games, and even remark your skills on their piano—an added touch that blends fun with relaxation.

The unique vibe of Stella Maris Gent transcends its physical offerings. It's a supportive community hub where the staff and volunteers, like Mohit Sandhu noted, are “really helpful,” assisting seamen in navigating local transportation and giving valuable insights about exploring nearby attractions. The cafe also features a shop with souvenirs and basic accessories that would be perfect to commemorate your visit or gift to loved ones back home.

Catering primarily to the seafaring community, Stella Maris Gent also provides a reliable shuttle service to the city center, ensuring you can effortlessly explore the beautiful historical elements of Gent during your stay. However, be mindful of the strict timings; as a visitor, you wouldn’t want to miss the bus!

In summary, Stella Maris Gent is more than just a cafe. It’s a sanctuary for seafarers looking for a cozy and welcoming space. So whether you're looking to sip on a refreshing drink, engage in light banter with fellow maritime professionals, or simply enjoy a moment of respite from the bustling world, Stella Maris Gent awaits you. Stop by and experience the warmth of community in this unique maritime refuge!

A decent seaman's club . Got souvenirs and basic accessories, spacious play area and if you are a pianist , it has got one. Might want to please a few seamen with your skills. Frequent shuttle service to the city centre.

A really good place for seafarers. Their free bus service to the city centre has strict timings and might not wait for you, so you better not miss it. The seafarers club has drinks and snacks. You get free wifi to access and table games as well if you just want to hangout. There's a souvenir and apparel shop as well. The staff/volunteers working at the club are really helpful.

Nice place for seafarers! Can play table tennis & billiard, free Wi-Fi (mostly very good, only if no so plenty visitors), have a good beer for choice, also different souvenirs. Free bus take you from vessel to seamens club, to center of Ghent (if you wish) and back.
